William I. Hutto, Jr., 87, died April 29, 2018 in Chatom. Mr. Hutto was born August 16, 1930 to the late William I Hutto, Sr. and the late Eula Mae Branon. He served in the United States Air Force prior to being offered an opportunity at the National Guard in Chatom by then Company Commander Paul Gartman which he translated into a brilliant career. Mr. Hutto was also a 50-year Mason who loved fishing and turkey hunting.
Mr. Hutto was proceeded in death by his parents and sisters, Ruth Welborn and Helen Sproul.
He is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Lavay Ferguson Hutto; son, William Derek Hutto (Susan); brother, John D. Hutto (Dianne); grandchildren, Johnathan D. Hutto Sr. (Nora), Jessica D. Singleton, Jarred D. Hutto (Kayla), Elliot Cassell, and Evan Cassell (Ashley); great grandchildren, John Derek Hutto Jr., Carleigh Hutto, Kylie Singleton, Emma D. Hutto, Lallie Hutto, Olivia Cassell, and Luca Cassell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Mr. Hutto will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Springhill Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Bernard Gibson and Rev. Jesse Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in Reynold's Holiness Church Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.lathanfuneralhome.com.
