William Joseph Pennington, 81, of Jackson, passed away March 6, 2018 in Chunchula. He was born January 4, 1937 to Girlie C. and Alma Lee Pennington in Tuscaloosa. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, repairing anything broken, and helping his many friends and family members. He had been employed as a machinist at Boise Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley Driskell Pennington and siblings, Helen Herron, Joyce Ishler, Carolyn Sue Taylor and Dorothy Mae Green.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Terry) Hamilton; grandchildren, Brian Jackson, Austin Jackson, Melissa Jackson, Michelle (Richard Williams) Jackson; five great-grandchildren and siblings, Deborah (Wayne) Skelton and Cecil Pennington.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Lathan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. William Allison officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, 5434 Old Birmingham Highway, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
Pallbearers will be Doug Baumgartner, Brian Jackson, Austin Jackson, Paul Jackson, Tyler Cadle, Sam Hughston and Jeff Hughston.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Skelton, William Starnes, Terry Hamilton, Curtis Howell, Anthony McClinton, Buster James, Donald Kellam and Randy Guy.
