Willie Alton "Frog" Motes, Sr., 82, of Jackson, passed away Monday, March 22, 2021 at Mobile Infirmary. He was born in Salitpa on June 20, 1938 to Samuel Macklin Motes and Ruby Hutchinson Motes. He enjoyed fishing, trapping and watching New Orleans Saints football and spending time with his family. He was a member at River Hill Baptist Church and the H. Clay Armstrong Lodge #544 in Salitpa which will provide Masonic Rites during the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, James Motes, Sr., Eva Mae Hoven and Frank Motes.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Motes; children, Willie (Marianne) Motes, Jr., James (Zina) Motes, Amy (Patrick) Goodman; grandchildren, Allen (Elizabeth Parnell) Motes, Chris (Bailey Stephens) Motes, Meagan (Shaun) Brenton, Catie (Ronnie) Flowers, Austin Motes, Justin (Bobbie Holton) Goodman, John Goodman; great-grandchildren, Waylon Motes, Logan Motes, Ryan Motes, Landon Brenton, Andrew Brenton, Madison Brenton, Karli Holton, Jennifer Stokes, Ashley Goodman; siblings, Thomas Motes, Fred Motes and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Fred Odom officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at River Hill Baptist Cemetery with Lathan Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be John Goodman, Justin Goodman, Allen Motes, Chris Motes, Logan Motes and Waylon Motes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Motes and Steven Parnell.
