Willie Shade “Sonny” Williams, Jr., 86, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Jackson on April 9, 1934 to Willie Shade Williams, Sr. and Ida Bell Barnett Williams. An avid golfer, he was also a huge fan of the University of Alabama football team and enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson and was a retired maintenance supervisor at Boise Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Joyce Gill Williams; siblings, Aline Hardy, Trudy Bouler, Glendine Lee and stepson, John Lee Savage, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Warren Williams; children, Bridget (James) Weaver, Geary (Renee) Williams; stepson, Jeff (Martha) Savage; grandchildren, Chad (Christy) Weaver, Lindsey Weaver (Ryan) Fozzard, John Richard (Ashley) Weaver, Cassie Williams (Grant) Skaggs, Carrie Williams (Adam) Campbell, Carly Williams (Brad) Busby, Willie (Kayla) Williams; step-grandchildren, John Lee (Robin) Savage, III, Robert L. (Nina) Graham, Jr., Kaitlyn S. (Devin) Langham, Will (Faith) Savage, A.J. Savage; 28 great-grandchildren, one great, great-grandchild; special friends, Ronnie and Ann “Tootsie” Alonzo and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson with the Rev. Jim DuFriend officiating. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Memorial Gardens. There will be no public visitation.
Pallbearers will be Brad Busby, Adam Campbell, Ryan Fozzard, Trey Graham, Devin Langham. A.J. Savage, John Lee Savage, III, Will Savage, Grant Skaggs, Chad Weaver, John Weaver, and Willie Williams.
